Former president Donald Trump posted on Truth Social Saturday that he won his club tournament on his home course in Bedminster with an impressive score.
But the internet isn’t buying it.
“I am pleased to report, for those that care, that I just won the Senior Club Championship (must be over 50 years old!) at Bedminster (Trump National Golf Club), shooting a round of 67,” Trump, the 45th president of the United States, posted on the social media site. “Now, some people will think that sounds low, but there is no hanky/lanky. Many people watch, plus I am surrounded by Secret Service Agents. Not much you can do even if you wanted to, and I don’t.
“For some reason, I am just a good golfer/athlete — I have won many Club championships, and it’s always a great honor!”
The 77-year-old Trump was correct. Many on X, previously known as Twitter, thought the score “sounded low,” but didn’t put it quite as subtly.
“Has Trump ever won a golf tournament on a course he doesn’t own?” an X user called @Rschooley posted.
One X use believed Trump shot a 67, but questioned the hole count.
“Probably only played 12 holes,” @chefbissell posted. “I don’t understand how anyone believes this guy!
In June, Trump was caught shanking a pitch shot at his Trump National Golf Club in Los Angeles, and one X user brought the video back as a reminder.
Those were just a couple of many similar reactions people had about the former president’s round at the course, which also serves as his summer estate.
This wasn’t the first time a Trump round of golf brought the internet to a boil.
In late January, the former president said he won the Senior Club Championship at Trump International Golf Club in Palm Beach, near his Mar-a-Lago estate which serves as his winter home.
It also wasn’t even the first time this week that a number having to do with Trump caused disbelief on the internet.
The former president lost 25 pounds — and gained an inch of height — since April, according to jail records filed Thursday after he surrendered to Fulton County authorities on charges related to his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia.
The measurements for Trump, which were pre-reported, according to ABC News, indicated he was 215 pounds with a height of 6-foot-3 inches — 25 pounds lighter and one inch taller than when he was booked in Manhattan in April.
Needless to say, Trump’s weight left many users on X incredulous, especially his political foes.
“215? That’s an insane lie,” tweeted Rick Wilson, co-founder of the Lincoln Project, an anti-Trump political action committee.
